“Hogs for Hospice 2025: Brotherhood, Bikes, and Big Hearts in Leamington”

Gratitude, Brotherhood, and Life Lessons from Hogs for Hospice 2025

As I wake up from a whirlwind 3‑day weekend, my heart is overflowing with gratitude. I just experienced my very first Hogs for Hospice Motorcycle Rally in Leamington—their 10th year—and what an unforgettable ride it was.

I had the privilege of volunteering with the HD Crew, selling 50/50 tickets and soaking in the electric energy of the event. The park buzzed with motorcycles, music, and community spirit, but what touched me most were the people.

I connected with two incredible veterans’ groups and several service clubs—men and women who dedicate their time to helping others, from supporting abused children to giving veterans a safe space to heal. If you’ve ever pictured “motorcycle groups” as rough and unapproachable, think again. What I witnessed was heart, purpose, and brotherhood.

One of the most moving moments for me came just before the road captains led the pack out. Watching the riders in their quiet unity, feeling that unspoken bond, I almost lifted my camera—then stopped. Some moments are sacred; they’re meant to be felt, not posted.

The Lessons I Didn’t Expect

Alongside the joy and adrenaline, this weekend taught me a lot about myself:

  • I love connecting with people and making a difference wherever I go.

  • I’m secretly competitive (yes, I might have broken a 50/50 sales record!).

  • I need to honor my own limits—especially with my hearing.

I’ve worn hearing aids since I was 25 and never considered my hearing loss a disability. But in a noisy park with music blaring and accents I couldn’t catch, I hit a wall. Most people were patient and understanding, but one unkind encounter stung. I chose to pray for her instead of holding anger—because life’s too short.

The biggest takeaway? You can serve without saying yes to every role. I’ll volunteer again, but in a way that sets me—and the cause—up for success.

Why You Should Experience Hogs for Hospice
